He is the author of the very successful “The World Book of Happiness”, in which 100 researchers from 50 countries share their knowledge about happiness. Leo Bormans is author of children’s books (”Everyday a party!”) and books for adults (”100% positivo. The secret of optimism”). He is a successful speaker at conferences in Belgium and abroad and he is actively involved as a committed citizen in promoting active citizenship in our society. He works for the Flemish Department of the Ministry of Education as editor-in-chief of Klasse: a  range of magazines, e-letters, sites, internet television and activities for teachers, parents, pupils and students.

Some facts:

  • His latest children’s book: “Everyday a party!” was nominated for the prestigious ‘Boekenleeuw’ prize in 2008, as one of the ten best children’s books in Flanders.
  • The ‘Klasse’ magazines have more than a million readers every month. Thousands of youngsters, parents and teachers participate in the original initiatives organised by Klasse every month.
  • For the book “100% positive. The secret of optimism” he interviewed 2000 Flemish people. They labelled themselves 69% optimist in average. We can do better! If we all add 10% we’ll undoubtedly end up happier, healthier and more successful. In his book and his lecture on this topic he hands out more than 100 tips and insights, all based on personal experience.
  • As a committed citizen he started a local initiative called Zebra in his village, he launched activities for a ‘warmer’ society and, among others, he is board-member of the Princess Mathilde Foundation.
